The 77 gods of Cape Coast (Oguaa)
It is believed that Oguaa (Cape Coast) has 77 gods that protect the people of the city. The gods can bring blessings and curses upon the individual and the state depending on how they are responded to.
It is believed that on Thursdays, all the lesser deities (77 children of God) leave the earth to meet Onyankɔrpɔn (Supreme God) concerning Oguaaman (Cape Coast). They are not invoked on Thursdays because they do not respond to the call of men while in the presence of Onyankɔrpɔn (Supreme God).
Any god that appears on Thursday is evil and has no good intention for the individual and Oguaaman at large.
During Fetu Festival cows are slaughtered in public for the 77 gods of Oguaa (Cape Coast). Here are the 77 gods and their locations:
