#BlackStars: Ghana’s winless streak continues

Ghana’s disappointing run continued after falling to secure a morale-boosting victory over the Cranes of Uganda.

Following the loss to Nigeria in the first of its two scheduled international friendlies, the Black Stars played out a 2-2 draw at the Grande Stade Marrakech in Morocco.

The Black Stars took an early lead through Jerome Opoku after heading home from a corner.

Otto Addo handed full debuts to midfield gem Francis Abu and left-back Ebenezer Annan, as Joseph Wollacott made a return to the starting lineup.

The Cranes equalized in the 23rd minute from the penalty spot through Asante Kotoko forward Steven Dese Mukwala.

Jordan Ayew restored his side’s lead after converting from the penalty spot.

Despite the uninspiring football from both sides, Uganda managed to equalize again with eight minutes left in the game when substitute Muhammad Shaban found the net from close range.

Ghana’s next international break in June will see them take on Mali and the Central African Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
