C/R: Tipper truck driver shot in the eye by armed robbers during ‘Rambo Style’ attack

A tipper truck driver is fighting for his life after being shot in the eye by armed robbers during an attack at Gomoa Potsin, along the Kasoa-Winneba Highway in the Central Region.

The victim, who works for Nag Fairmount Construction, was on duty when the incident happened.

Confirming the attack, the Gomoa Dominase District Police Commander, ASP Richard Ahiagbor, said it occurred during a robbery operation—part of what he described as a growing trend in the area.

Speaking at a stakeholder meeting on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, ASP Ahiagbor revealed that the police have recorded more than four robbery cases in the area just in the past week.

Residents told Adom News that the robbers are taking advantage of ongoing road construction along the highway to stage their attacks more easily.

They are calling on the Central Regional Minister, the Member of Parliament for Gomoa East, Desmond De-Graft Paitoo, and other authorities to urgently beef up security in the area.

In response, ASP Ahiagbor assured the public that the Police administration has mounted several checkpoints along the highway to help tackle the growing threat.
