Dada KD’s sickness was a surprise – Dada KD’s best female friend gives account

A close associate of the late Dada KD’s family, identified as Abena Dapaah, has given a blow-by-blow account of how Dada KD died.

This comes after it was reported by Accra-based Asaase Radio that the ace musician had died.

Taking to their official social media pages, Asaase Radio posted a picture of Dada KD and captioned it “🕊️ BREAKING: Highlife legend Dada KD has died, family sources have confirmed. Renowned for his soulful love songs, Dada KD earned multiple accolades, including the Best Male Vocal Artist award at the 2004 Ghana Music Awards UK. His legacy as a true icon endures. A true icon.”

Following the report, the death of the “Fatia Fata Nkrumah” hitmaker has become a topic of online discussion.

As Ghanaians are in a state of melancholy, a question they ponder over is what caused the death of the late musician who looked very fit days ago.

Abena Dapaah’s Account

Reacting to such questions, Abena Dapaah has disclosed how the musician sadly died when dusk was falling yesterday, May 16, 2025.

Speaking on Hello FM with Dave Hammer, Abena Dapaah noted that she thought the report was another joke when she heard it for the first time until she officially confirmed it.

Abena Dapaah confirmed that before May 16, Dada KD was very fit, and one wouldn’t have believed it if they were told Dada KD would die anytime soon.

Giving a blow-by-blow account, Abena stated that unexpectedly, Dada KD felt sick, and surprisingly enough, it was a serious sickness.

According to Abena, at that very moment, they called people both within and outside the country to help take the late musician to the hospital.

Sadly enough, after they arrived at Gbawe Hospital, where the musician was expected to receive treatment, he died.

Meanwhile, Abena shockingly disclosed that Dada KD was going through financial constraints while alive, which he complained bitterly about a lot.
