Drama as former PRO of GES refuses to give Facebook Page password
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has lost access to its official Facebook page because the former Public Relations Officer has refused to hand over the login credentials.
This was disclosed by the current Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, after a colleague suggested that the page be updated with current GES activities. In response, Mr. Fenyi explained:
“In fact, frankly, your former boss, Cassandra Twum Ampofo says she won’t hand over the social media passwords to us. She says they’re for her. So I don’t have access, neither does anyone. Hope we get it as soon as possible.”
He added that he had not planned to speak on the matter publicly but felt compelled to respond since the issue was raised.
The development has caused concern among the public and education stakeholders who depend on the GES Facebook page for accurate updates. Many have expressed surprise that such a critical communication tool is now inaccessible due to unresolved administrative matters.
Cassandra Twum Ampofo, the former GES PRO, is yet to publicly respond to the allegation.
The situation has raised concerns about how digital platforms are managed in public institutions, especially during leadership transitions. It is unclear what steps the GES is taking to regain access to the account or whether a new page will be created.
Until the issue is resolved, the GES may have to rely on other means to share official updates with the public.
