First Ghanaian made Pragya “IGP 1” unveiled (VIDEO)
A group of innovative Ghanaians in Sunyani-Odumase has developed a new version of the popular “Pragya” tricycle, called the “IGP 1,” built to carry more than six passengers—far beyond the usual capacity of the standard model.
The locally made tricycle, which has gone viral in a video, features a stronger frame, more spacious seating, and improved safety features suited for Ghana’s tough road conditions.
The developers are appealing to renowned Ghanaian inventor Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka for support to help improve the design and scale up production.
The invention has received praise for its potential to ease transport problems in both rural and urban areas while promoting local manufacturing.
Residents are hopeful that with proper backing, the “IGP 1” can become a symbol of Ghanaian creativity and reduce the nation’s dependence on imported tricycles.
The project has sparked calls for more government and private sector support for grassroots innovation.
Many Ghanaians believe the “IGP 1” could transform public transport and boost the local economy.
