Footballer killed by mob for stealing a mobile phone

A sad and disturbing incident has occurred in Kenya, where a former footballer lost his life after being attacked by a mob in Nairobi.

Eric Wafula, who once played as a goalkeeper for Mathare FC, was reportedly with a friend when they were accused of stealing a mobile phone from a passerby over the weekend.

According to local reports, an angry crowd quickly formed and took matters into their own hands. The two men were beaten with stones and sticks by members of the community who believed they were responsible for the theft.

This wasn’t the first time Wafula had faced such a situation. In a previous incident in Kariobangi, he had also been accused of phone theft but was rescued by the police before the situation got out of hand.
