Ga’s are lazy – Mzbel
Mzbel, known in real life as Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, has made a controversial statement about hiring practices, saying she would never employ someone if she knew they were from the Ga tribe — despite her own deep connections with the Ga community.
Speaking on the Showbiz A-Z program during a discussion on how Ga-Adangbe people can support one another, Mzbel revealed that although she grew up in Accra Central, speaks the Ga language fluently, and is often mistaken for being Ga herself, she has personally chosen not to hire individuals from the tribe.
She explained that this decision is based on her own experiences over the years. According to her, the few Ga individuals she has employed in the past ended up being lazy and unreliable.
She said that in her experience, they might show up to work for a few days, but soon after, they start coming up with excuses to skip work — often mentioning funerals or other social obligations as reasons for their absence.
Mzbel added that many young people in the Ga community seem to lack the drive to work. She claimed that most of them only look for jobs because their parents push them to, and once they secure employment, they don’t take it seriously, which often results in them getting fired.
