GES extends school selection deadline to June 25, 2025: Private SHSs now included

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has extended the deadline for the 2025 BECE school selection to Wednesday, 25th June 2025.

In a circular dated 13th June 2025 and signed by Mr. Prince C. Agyemang-Duah on behalf of the Acting Director-General, the extension is due to the inclusion of private Senior High Schools (SHSs) in this year’s selection.

GES says the move is to give candidates more time to make informed decisions, especially with the new private school options available.

“All existing guidelines and procedures for the school selection remain the same,” the statement noted, urging students to consult parents, guardians, and teachers before finalizing their choices.

A supplementary register with the newly added private SHSs has been attached to guide candidates and school heads.

Regional Directors are to notify all Metro, Municipal, and District Directors of Education, who will inform headteachers and final-year students.

The extension is aimed at easing the pressure and ensuring fair access to all secondary school options.
