Ghana is doomed if a businessman becomes president – LPG’s Yaw Asani Tano
The National Organiser of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) Yaw Asani Tano has warned the opposition New Patriotic Party against electing a businessman as their flagbearer.
The New Patriotic Party has scheduled Saturday, January 31, 2026, to hold their presidential primary.
The primary will feature former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Assin Central lawmaker, Kennedy Agyapong, and former Minister of Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong, among others contesting for the position.
Discussing the primary on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, Yaw Asani Tano advised the party saying “any attempt to elect a businessman as a flagbearer, your party is doomed and Ghana will sink deeply”.
“Businessmen are greedy in their own sphere of life because every time it is about profit…Businessmen are likely that they will siphon monies to enrich their business, to make their business stand,” he argued.
As to who among the prospective candidates to contest for the NPP presidential seat he is referring to as the businessman in question, Yaw Asani Tano left it to the imagination of the public.
