He is most popular and marketed politician in Ghana today – Musah Superior chooses Bawumia
Former Deputy CEO of the Forestry Commission, Musah Superior, has strongly rejected Kennedy Agyapong’s claim that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia should not lead the NPP again due to his “abysmal” performance in the 2024 elections.
In a statement dated June 9, Musah Superior stated, “Kennedy Agyapong would have performed worse if he had been the presidential candidate in 2024.” He argued that the party’s loss was due to a “weak and spiritless” party structure, an unpopular government, and poor national leadership — not Bawumia himself.
While acknowledging Agyapong’s right to criticise Bawumia, Musah Superior said he felt compelled to counter what he called “falsehood, propaganda and ignorance” in Agyapong’s claims.
“No matter what Kennedy says, it doesn’t change the fact that DMB is loved and respected by the majority of our party members and will eventually win the NPP flagbearer contest for 2028,” he said.
He emphasised that the NPP is a democratic party and all members have a right to contest for leadership, but also stressed the party’s history of loyalty to candidates who have served them well over time. “We won’t abandon the man who led the fight against the NDC for over a decade and helped us win power in 2016 and 2020,” he stressed.
According to Musah, Bawumia was the face of the NPP’s campaigns for 12 years and played a central role in exposing the weaknesses of the NDC. “He is COMPETENT, HONOURABLE, HARDWORKING, INTELLIGENT and HUMBLE,” he added.
Musah Superior listed five reasons why Bawumia remains the best person to lead the party in 2028:
He’s the most popular and marketed politician in Ghana today, with wide party support both locally and abroad.
He is a unifier and is known for his humility and exemplary conduct.
He is feared by the NDC and represents a progressive force for the party.
He is modern and innovative, with strong communication skills and leadership qualities.
His economic background and international exposure make him ideal for leading Ghana in today’s complex global environment.
Musah added that Bawumia’s loss in 2024 will serve as a learning experience, and that supporters should remain calm, respectful, and focused. He urged them not to respond to provocation and instead show maturity to foster unity after the internal race.
He stressed that the ultimate goal is to beat the NDC in 2028, and that Bawumia remains the strongest and most suitable candidate to achieve that.
Musah also drew historical parallels, citing the party’s decision to retain Kufuor after 1996 and Akufo-Addo after losing in 2008 and 2012 — both of whom eventually won. “If it worked for them, it should work for DMB too,” he argued.
He concluded by calling for unity: “We are all in this together. We must win 2028 together. DMB remains the mover and shaker. Let’s all support him.”
