How to send money from Ghana to Nigeria using MTN MoMo

There is a steady increase in business exchanges between Ghana and Nigeria due to development of several money transfer firms and improvements in financial technology.

In response to this demand, MTN has introduced a new feature that allows you to send money from Ghana to Nigeria using Mobile Money. This eliminates the various challenges associated with international remittances.

This is a fast, easy, effective and safe option for transactions between the two  countries. At the moment, Ghanaians can only send money to their Naija brothers. It is anticipated that in the future, MoMo transfers can be possible across the whole of West Africa or even Africa as a whole.

Thanks to this initiative, senders don’t have to worry about conversion or exchange rates because they can send money in cedis while the recipients receive in Niara.

How Do I Send Money From Ghana To Nigeria?

1. Open your phone app and dial *170#

2. Select Option one (1)

 

3. On the next page, choose the seventh alternative

4. Next, choose Nigeria

5. Moving on, press one (1) and proceed the next stage

6. At this point, you will be prompted to enter the receiver’s phone number twice for confirmation as shown in the images below. Make sure to enter the country code together with the number.

7. You will have the chance to input the amount you want to send in cedis. The prompt will appear as seen in the image below.

8. Enter a reference

9. Finally, key in your pin to complete your transaction

NB: MTN Ghana charges 4% of the total amount being transferred as fee. This transfer takes only a few seconds. The moment your transaction is completed, your recipient will instantly receive the money.
