I can’t wait to tell the world how amazing Ghana is – Anthony Joshua tells Mahama

British-Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua has expressed excitement about promoting Ghana globally, calling the country beautiful, welcoming, and rich with investment opportunities.

The two-time heavyweight world champion said he was highly impressed with Ghana’s environment, culture, and hospitality. He pledged to use his platform to attract investors to Ghana and Africa.

Speaking during a visit to President John Dramani Mahama at the Jubilee House on Monday, June 16, Joshua stated:

“I’m very impressed — your beautiful country, amazing culture, hospitality, the airport, the organisation — I can’t wait to go back and tell everyone across the world how beautiful this place is.”

He added that sports opened doors for him, and now he wants to use that access to help bring investment into Ghana.

“I’ve been calling friends, speaking about ways we can bring investment into Ghana and Africa. I understand some of your policies. Sports is short-lived, and we eventually cross into business.”

Joshua also admitted that Ghana was not originally part of his travel plans due to the bias he developed from his experiences in Nigeria.

“I’ve been spending a lot of time in Nigeria. Coming to Ghana wasn’t on my agenda because, for some reason, everyone in Nigeria puts Nigeria up here and Ghana just here. But now I’m here, and I’m looking around like—they’ve been lying to me.”

Anthony Joshua arrived in Ghana on Friday, June 13, to headline “Battle of the Beasts,” a major boxing event held at the Bukom Boxing Arena. The event was organised by Sharaf Mahama, CEO of Legacy Rises Sports, in collaboration with former British welterweight champion Amir Khan.
