I will not pay you back when NPP comes to power – Wontumi tells NDC

Despite the challenges he has faced under the Mahama-led administration, Chairman Wontumi has privately assured Hon. George Oduro that he has no plans to seek revenge when political power shifts.

Hon. George Oduro, the former MP for New Edubease, revealed that the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, personally told him he would not retaliate against individuals who have used political power to harass him.

During an interview with Kwaku Dawuro on Movement TV, Hon. Oduro said Chairman Wontumi “isn’t planning to retaliate against the NDC when the NPP gets power.”

He explained that Chairman Wontumi is known for being forgiving and does not believe in taking revenge.

“There were people he has helped in the NWontumiPP who turned their back on him during the party’s executive elections but he didn’t pay them back,” he said.

Chairman Wontumi was recently granted bail by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) after fulfilling the required conditions.

He was released on bail set at GH₵50 million with two sureties to be justified, following his arrest on May 27.
