I’m sorry – Lecturer goes on his knees to beg Mahama, EPA
A lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba, Dr. Ekpor Anyimah-Ackah, has apologised to President John Dramani Mahama and the Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Prof. Nana Ama Klutse, over comments he made about their use of the term “dechemicalisation” during televised discussions on efforts to restore Ghana’s polluted water bodies.

Speaking on Newsfile on Joy News on Saturday, October 6, 2025, he criticised the EPA boss and the president for using what he described as a scientifically inaccurate term.
“I want to apologise to the President of the Republic, His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama. I also want to salute his able minister (the Lands and Natural Resources Minister). I also want to salute Prof here and to say that she is a beloved Professor and we have respect for the work she is doing,” he said.
He explained that his earlier comments were not meant to undermine the president or the leadership of the EPA.
“In fact, if she were not doing well, would I even bother to offer feedback and input to support her to make the right decisions for all of us?” he added.
Meanwhile, the government has declared all water bodies and forest reserves as security zones as part of renewed efforts to fight illegal mining, popularly known as “galamsey.”
