I’m Sorry – Stephen Amoah begs Muslims for mercy
Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, Dr. Stephen Amoah, also known as Sticka, has issued a public apology after facing criticism for remarks suggesting religious bias in presidential elections.
Dr. Amoah, a supporter of NPP flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong, came under fire after saying some Christians may be hesitant to vote for a Muslim presidential candidate.
“Whether we like it or not, Christians hardly want to vote for a Muslim leader. It is a fact,” he reportedly stated.
His comment drew strong reactions, with many calling it divisive and inappropriate.
Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show, Dr. Amoah explained that he did not intend to offend or discriminate against Muslims.
“I didn’t speak against Muslims… but I’ll admit this is a sensitive matter,” he said. “I officially apologise to all those who feel offended by what I said.”
