INTERPOL red notice: List of countries Ken Ofori-Atta could be detained
Former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, could be arrested in almost any country in the world after being added to INTERPOL’s Red Notice list, following accusations by Ghana’s Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) that he used his public office for personal gain.
The Red Notice means that all 196 INTERPOL member countries, including the US and the UK—where Ofori-Atta has reportedly been seen—will work together to locate and detain him for extradition to Ghana.
Each member country has an INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), which connects local police to INTERPOL’s global system, making it likely that Ofori-Atta will eventually be found.
Realistically, the only United Nations-recognised countries where he might avoid arrest are North Korea and Tuvalu. He might also find refuge in territories with limited or no international recognition, such as Taiwan, Kosovo, Palestine, and Western Sahara.
