I’ve not eaten pork since I became born again in the late 80s – Great Ampong

Gospel musician Great Ampong has agreed with Sonnie Badu’s recent statement that eating pork is spiritually harmful.

Speaking on Property Radio in Cape Coast, Ampong revealed that he stopped eating pork in the 1980s after becoming a born-again Christian.

“I used to eat pork when I was in the world, but since around 1989 when I gave my life to Christ, I stopped eating it,” he said.

He explained that what convinced him was the Bible story where Jesus cast demons into pigs and the pigs ran into the sea.

“When I read that story, I realised that the animal could be dangerous,” Ampong added.

He also said that in his house, no one eats pork—not his wife, not his children, nobody.

“From the ’80s, when I became serious with my Christian life, I saw in the Bible that pigs are not good animals. Since then, my whole family has stopped eating pork,” he said.

Ampong’s comments follow Sonnie Badu’s claim that pork is spiritually risky for Christians to eat—a statement that has stirred debate among Ghanaians.
