In an interview with the ft.com published on June 9, 2025, Ofori-Atta said he was “puzzled and dismayed” by the developments. The interview took place before an INTERPOL Red Notice was issued for his arrest, according to the report by ft.com.

He reportedly informed the OSP that any further communication should go through his legal team, as he would “be out of the country for the next few months.”

Ofori-Atta has strongly denied all the accusations, insisting he wasn’t the “originating nor implementing minister” in four out of the five cases being investigated. He specifically distanced himself from allegations involving contracts in the power, petroleum, and health sectors.

Despite his denial, the OSP has named the former minister as a suspect in five separate investigations:

Revenue Assurance Contracts – Probing agreements between Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) regarding oversight of petroleum and mineral revenue.

National Cathedral Project – Investigating the procurement and financial dealings related to the controversial cathedral project.

Ambulance Procurement – Looking into a Ministry of Health contract with Service Ghana Auto Group Limited for the purchase and servicing of 307 ambulances.

Electricity Company Contract Termination – Reviewing the circumstances around the termination of a contract between the Electricity Company of Ghana and Beijing Xiao Cheng Technology (BXC).

GRA Tax P-Fund Management – Examining how funds from the Tax P-Fund Account, managed by the GRA, were handled and distributed.

Ofori-Atta’s legal troubles continue to draw national attention, especially given the scale and sensitivity of the projects involved.
