Kuami Eugene confirms ‘fights’ with KiDi during Lynx Entertainment days

Ghanaian highlife and afrobeat artist Kuami Eugene has finally addressed long-standing rumours about a rocky relationship with fellow musician and former Lynx Entertainment labelmate, KiDi. In a heartfelt chat with media personality Doreen Avio, Kuami Eugene admitted that things weren’t always as smooth between them as fans may have believed.

Opening up during the interview, the “Angela” hitmaker reflected on how their journey at Lynx started out on a positive note. But as time went on, he said their differences in personality began to create tension.

“There’s some truth to what you just said, actually,” Kuami said when asked directly about their relationship. “There’s a side of the story from the early days with Lynx Entertainment and the entire family—it was sweet because we were all coming up together. But people have different perceptions of others and how they carry themselves. KiDi’s character is very different from mine; we were two different people.”

While Kuami has always appeared calm and laid-back, he said that over the years, the music industry taught him how to balance humility with being firm and assertive.

“I tried as much as possible to stay in the middle, but I don’t want to be too calm and lose respect,” he shared. “I don’t want to be too soft because, you know, when you’re too soft, people stop respecting you and may even bully you.”

At one point, things between them got so tense that they could go nearly an entire year without speaking, even though they were both signed to the same label.

“We’ve had days where the tension was so high that, sometimes, for maybe a whole year, we wouldn’t see each other—even though we were both at Lynx Entertainment.”

He explained that part of the growing distance also had to do with them moving out of the Lynx residence they used to share.

“I moved from Lynx—I left the camp and rented a place elsewhere. Later, he moved too. I had a studio in my house, and he also had one in his. Eventually, we’d only meet at events, maybe in the States or when we were traveling abroad together. The ‘always together’ phase lasted for about two or three years.”

Despite the differences and distance, Kuami Eugene made it clear that he still values the bond they once had. He praised their time at Lynx Entertainment for teaching him valuable lessons—not just about music, but about friendships and how to grow in the industry.

His candid revelations have caught the attention of fans, with many now hoping the two artists might reunite musically. Their collaborations in the past were major hits, and the idea of them working together again has stirred excitement across social media.
