Kwesi Appiah win big at Ghana Football Awards

Head coach of Sudan’s national football team, Kwesi Appiah, has been crowned Men’s Coach of the Year at the 2025 Ghana Football Awards, held at the Grand Arena in Accra.

Appiah was honoured for his outstanding performance over the past year, having successfully guided Sudan to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco. Under his leadership, Sudan has also had a promising start in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, picking up 12 points from six games — just one point behind group leaders DR Congo.

He edged out tough competition from Frimpong Manso (Bibiani Gold Stars), Kassim Ocansey (Nations FC), and Fiifi Parker-Hanson (Golden Kicks), all of whom impressed in Ghana’s domestic football season.

The award marks another milestone in Appiah’s long and influential career in African football, more than a decade after he first managed Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars.
