LISTEN: OSP opens up on receiving Ken Ofori-Atta’s medical report and his cancer
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has stated clearly that it has not received any medical report from former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta or his legal team, despite claims in the media.

In an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Sammy Darko, Director of Strategy, Research and Communication at the OSP, dismissed reports suggesting that a medical report had been submitted.
These reports come amid rumours that Mr. Ofori-Atta is battling cancer, with a supposed medical report circulating online.
According to Mr. Darko, the document they received cannot be considered a medical report.
“That letter is not a medical report. I don’t understand why people keep calling it that,” he said. “When you go to the hospital, there’s a coordinator and there’s a doctor. The letter we received was from a coordinator—not a doctor.”
He explained that the letter only mentioned that Mr. Ofori-Atta underwent a diagnostic procedure in March and that a planned surgery did not take place.
“Even with that, we were not informed about the diagnostic procedure in advance. It was just three or four days before his expected return to Ghana that his lawyers wrote to us, saying he couldn’t make it because surgery was scheduled for June 13,” he added.
Mr. Darko expressed disappointment over the lack of proper medical documentation.
“He’s playing smart on us,” he said. “No recent medical report has been submitted—only letters through his lawyers. If he truly was unwell or preparing for surgery, why didn’t they provide the full documentation earlier?”
He also rejected claims that the OSP acted unfairly by declaring Mr. Ofori-Atta a wanted person.
“Now the lawyers are saying they sent letters, but to us, those were not sufficient and definitely not medical reports,” he insisted.
Ken Ofori-Atta is currently being investigated by the OSP over allegations of corruption and related offenses during his time as Finance Minister from 2017 to 2024.
