Mahama breached the law and accepted a bribe – PNP
The People’s National Party (PNP) has criticised President John Dramani Mahama for accepting car gifts and later declaring and donating them to the state.

The party’s National Chairman and founder, Janet Nabla, believes the president should not have accepted the vehicles in the first place.
President Mahama recently handed over two vehicles gifted to him to be added to the state’s vehicle pool.
He said the move was a demonstration of his government’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
The declaration was made on Monday, May 5, as part of the president’s newly introduced code of conduct for government appointees.
However, Janet Nabla strongly opposed the president’s actions, describing them as a violation of the law regarding the acceptance of gifts.
She argued that the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has clear guidelines on gifts, which she claims the president has contravened and must be held accountable for.
According to her, the car gifts fall under items prohibited by the CHRAJ gift policy and should be considered a form of bribery.
Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 97.5FM, Nabla insisted that to lead by example, the president himself must face consequences to deter his appointees from similar actions.
She told host Kwabena Agyapong that President Mahama’s performance in his first 120 days has been poor, and she rated him minus two out of ten.
She also dismissed the newly launched code of conduct as a political strategy.
“Is Mahama talking about the Code of Conduct? Eiiiii! Guidelines of CHRAJ prevent public officers from accepting gifts, and if someone wants to donate gifts, they should be gifted in the name of the public because it is a crime to accept gifts. President Mahama has confessed to accepting two vehicles as gifts, which constitutes a bribe. He should be punished for breaching the law.
President Mahama is a rule breaker. He has broken the law. Gifts are not free and have the tendency to make you do things that undermine transparency, accountability and ethical leadership. We would have to punish the president before going to others.”
