NDC Chairman accused of assaulting youth organiser
A youth organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ada Constituency has accused the party’s constituency chairman, Emmanuel Tetteh Kabu, of physically assaulting him during a meeting held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
Michael Siameh, the youth organiser for Lenobinya Branch A of the NDC, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the chairman allegedly slapped him during a heated discussion about internal party matters. According to him, the incident left him with sharp pains in his head, neck, and other parts of his body.
He said the confrontation stemmed from concerns over alleged appointments of friends, family members, and even individuals linked to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to public positions in the district. Siameh explained that tensions flared after he commented on a Facebook post made by the party’s communication officer about the issue—comments that reportedly angered the chairman.
“I only made a contribution to the statement, but the chairman was upset and insisted that I should have consulted him before making any comments. During the conversation, he warned me not to respond to him, and before I could say anything, he slapped me,” Siameh said.
However, Emmanuel Tetteh Kabu—who is also the youth development chief of Ada, known by the stool name Nene Tetteh Kakepeemi I—denied assaulting the youth organiser.
“I did not slap him; he was gesturing with his hands while I was speaking, which I considered disrespectful. I only held his hand and advised him to be respectful, especially as I am a titleholder,” he stated.
Kabu also noted that after the meeting, he gave Siameh GH¢300.00 for transportation and was surprised when he was later contacted by the Ada East Police Command over the alleged assault.
The police have since issued a medical form to Siameh for examination, and investigations into the matter are currently ongoing.
