Otumfuo’s son gains admission at Wesleyan University in North Carolina
Oheneba Kwame Kyeretwie, son of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has gained admission to study Astronomy at Wesleyan University in North Carolina, USA.

The young prince will soon begin studying the field of science that explores celestial bodies, space, and the wider universe.
According to a post by “Ashanti Nation” on social media, no public university in Ghana currently offers a full degree in Astronomy.
“Traditional universities are now getting involved academically but don’t yet offer full degrees in astronomy. KNUST (Kumasi) hosted the first national Astronomy & Space Science Conference in November 2023, signaling growing student interest,” the post said.
Nana Kwame Kyeretwie shared his thoughts during his graduation on Saturday, June 21, 2025, expressing joy and nervousness as his parents and many guests attended the ceremony.
In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the Asanteman prince, who was also Head Boy of DPS International Ghana in Tema, was asked how he felt. He replied:
“I feel great, but nervous. Everyone is here and all the cameras are on me.”
