Partner with Bawumia for the good of NPP – Kennedy Agyapong told
Kingsley Adumattah Agyapong, Chairman of the UK Chapter of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has suggested that the party should consider a joint ticket with former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Kennedy Agyapong for the 2028 presidential election.
He believes this partnership would help unite the party and increase its chances of winning the next election.
Wofa K, as he is popularly known, said the upcoming presidential primary scheduled for January 31, 2026, is essentially a contest between the two, as no other candidate stands a real chance.
In an interview with Rainbow Radio 92.4 UK, he stated that either the former Vice President or the former Assin Central MP would emerge as the flagbearer.
He noted that the NPP is currently going through difficult times and must focus on saving the party and preparing for victory in the 2028 general elections.
He urged party members to shift their attention from just the flagbearer race to fixing the party’s internal structure.
“My primary choice is that we should allow the two of them to partner and represent the party. From the two of them, anyone we elect as a candidate cannot help us win the elections if we fail to have leaders with the courage to crack the whip on those who will misbehave. We need leaders who will be able to chastise us, streamline us, and punish those who will go wayward. If we fail to do that, electing either Ken or Bawumia will not secure us the victory.”
He expressed confidence that a united front led by the two would bring success through hard work and cooperation.
He also stressed that it will be a major challenge to recover the votes lost in 2024 and win back disillusioned party members.
He advised both leading contenders to calm their supporters and put an end to the insults and internal attacks.
