Tell them I’m sorry – Education Minister apologises to unpaid teachers

Minister of Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has rendered an unqualified apology to newly-posted teachers for delays in the payment of their salaries.

“Tell them I apologize. No one should work for seven months without being paid,” he said.

He noted that not paying them means low productivity as they may not be able to give off their best due to financial-related stress.

Some teachers have been complaining about their inability to get paid due to delays in getting their biometric registration done, which will enable them get their staff identification numbers.

In a related development, the Minister emphasized that the free Senior High School (SHS) policy was not under review as the President and Minister of Finance had already said.
