There is a glory that comes with being natural, if you wear wig you lose it – Sonnie Badu
Renowned Ghanaian gospel musician and preacher, Dr. Sonnie Badu, who is currently based in the UK, has sparked conversations online and in church circles following comments he made about women and their choice to wear wigs.
While delivering a sermon at RockHill Church, Sonnie Badu advised young women to embrace their natural hair instead of relying heavily on wigs. According to him, this common beauty choice may carry serious spiritual consequences.
He explained that a woman’s natural hair holds deep spiritual value, and constantly covering it with synthetic wigs could lead to a loss of what he called her “glory.”
“There is a glory that comes with being natural. Some of you do not even know the origin of the wigs you put on your head, yet you wear them daily without understanding the spiritual implications. Young ladies, learn to love your natural hair,” he passionately stated.
Dr. Badu believes that by wearing wigs too often, some women unknowingly block their spiritual blessings. He encouraged women to be proud of their natural beauty, which he described as a gift from God.
His comments have drawn mixed reactions. While many agree with his message of self-love and natural beauty, others argue that wearing wigs is a matter of personal preference and style and should not be linked to one’s spiritual life.
Despite the differing opinions, Sonnie Badu remains firm in his belief that women should be more mindful of the choices they make about their appearance, especially when it concerns their spiritual well-being.
