There will be no NPP in 2026 – Movement for Change

A leading member of the Movement for Change, Solomon Owusu, has predicted that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) will collapse by the end of 2026.

Mr. Owusu, who is a former member of the NPP, claimed that the party’s internal issues and current direction indicate it is heading towards collapse.

Speaking on Woezor TV’s The Platform on Friday, June 20, he connected the alleged decline of the NPP to the exit of former Trade Minister, Alan Kyerematen.

“Some of us thought the party would collapse eventually, but not to this extent or at the pace they’ve decided to fast-track it. Believe you me, by this time next year, you’ll give me my stone. They’ve really collapsed,” Mr. Owusu stated.

He also revealed that the Movement for Change is already positioning itself as a new political force to replace the NPP and attract its disillusioned supporters.

“Let your listeners everywhere bear in mind that the movement is metamorphosing into a political party for reflection. Very soon, we’ll come out fully. It’s divinely crafted. We never thought the NPP would collapse this fast, but they have — and at least, there’s some respite,” he said.

He encouraged disappointed NPP members to remain hopeful, assuring them that the Movement for Change is being prepared to serve as their new political home.

“They should not worry at all. It’s the reason why God is bringing our movement to become a political party so they can come,” he noted.

Meanwhile, the NPP is scheduled to elect its next flagbearer on January 31, 2026, in preparation for the 2028 general elections.
