These National Service personnel to face sanctions

The National Service Authority (NSA) has sent a strong warning to service personnel who are doing their national service but are also working full-time jobs—especially in the public sector.

The NSA is asking such individuals to report to any of its regional offices or the head office in Accra immediately to regularize their status.

In a statement released on Monday, May 19, 2025, the Authority said:

“The National Service Authority (NSA) is cautioning all National Service Personnel who are currently undertaking national service but are also in full-time employment, especially within the public sector, to immediately report to any of our regional offices nationwide or the head office in Accra to regularise their status.”

This comes after the NSA submitted names from different service groups—General Enrolment (2024/2025), Nurses Enrolment (2025/2026), and Teachers Enrolment (2025/2026)—to the Controller and Accountant General’s Department for checks and verification.

“This warning follows the submission of the full enrollment lists of the under listed service categories to the Controller and Accountant General’s Department for data matching and verification,” the statement added.

The NSA says this process is to catch people who are illegally receiving two incomes—one from their job and the other from the national service allowance—which is against the law.

“This exercise is aimed at identifying individuals who are unlawfully drawing dual income from both their employment and national service allowance in violation of the National Service Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1119),” it explained.

A deadline of Friday, May 23, 2025, has been given for people to comply.

“After this deadline, any individual found to have engaged in such fraudulent conduct will be subjected to strict administrative sanctions, including immediate deletion from the national service payroll, referral for prosecution, and permanent disqualification from future public service engagement,” it warned.

The NSA is advising all affected persons to take this chance and fix their records to avoid serious consequences.

“The Ghana National Service Authority remains committed to integrity, accountability, and transparency in national service administration,” it concluded.
