Upper West Region: Boy, 25 and two others sentenced to 64 years in prison
Three men who took part in a series of armed robberies in the Upper West Region have been jailed for a total of 64 years by the Wa Circuit Court.
The men—Adinan Mahmoud, also known as Okra; Abdulai Ibrahim, also called Baba; and Abdulai Kipo—were found guilty of robbery and conspiracy to commit crime.
Okra, who is 25 years old and had been on the police wanted list, admitted to the crime. The court sentenced him to 18 years in prison with hard labour. He was arrested on May 31, 2025, at his hideout in Sandemuni, a suburb of Wa, during a special police operation.
According to 3news.com on June 6, 2025, Mahmoud was taken to court on June 2 and sentenced that same day.
His partner, Baba, was sentenced on June 3 to 13 years in jail. The next day, he was given an additional 15 years, bringing the total to 28 years.
The third man, Kipo, was sentenced to 18 years. Both Baba and Kipo denied the charges but were found guilty after a full trial.
The case was handled by Judge Jonathan Avoogo.
The Upper West Regional Police Command has assured the public that it will continue working hard to keep the region safe and deal with criminals who disturb the peace.
