Money rituals, commonly known in Ghana as ‘Sakawa’, have recently become a popular route for many young people seeking quick wealth and fame. For some of these youth, the pursuit of riches has driven them to explore dangerous and spiritually terrifying paths, all in the name of acquiring money and social status.

In this desperate chase for riches, a number of young men and women have subjected themselves to extreme spiritual practices—some of which they later regret. Having gone through harrowing experiences in the spiritual realm, a few have since returned to their senses, now admitting that their quest may ultimately lead to destruction rather than prosperity.

Across Ghana and in several other African countries, Benin is often regarded as the most powerful hub for traditional rituals and “juju.” Many believe that the spiritual forces in Benin are stronger and more effective than those found elsewhere. This belief has made the West African country a hotspot for those seeking supernatural assistance in their money rituals.

In an exclusive conversation with actor and presenter Jeffery Nortey, the sakawa kingpin recounted a chilling tale of his journey to Benin. According to him, the trip was motivated by a desire to swindle a wealthy foreign woman, and he believed that only strong spiritual reinforcement could guarantee his success.

He revealed that his goal was not just to scam the woman of some money, but to rob her of a substantial fortune. For that, he needed a powerful spiritual force that would make the woman submit to all his requests without question.

Although he did not disclose every detail of what happened in Benin, the kingpin made it clear that what he encountered there was beyond imagination. The spiritual tasks he was asked to perform were extreme and frightening, pushing him to the edge of his sanity. Despite the fear, he carried on with the rituals—driven by greed and desperation.

However, upon returning to Ghana, things didn’t go as expected. Instead of securing the money, he began facing a series of strange and terrifying experiences that made him regret his actions. He admitted that he started losing his peace of mind and began having vivid nightmares and spiritual attacks.

At that point, he realized that the road he was on could only end in tragedy. This painful realization led him to abandon sakawa altogether. He is now using his story to advise other young people to avoid shortcuts to wealth, especially those involving spiritual manipulation.

His testimony is a sobering reminder that not all that glitters is gold. While the promise of fast money may be tempting, the consequences of sakawa and other forms of money rituals can be devastating—physically, mentally, and spiritually.
