WATCH: He didn’t mean to shoot her – GH Kobby’s brother speaks

The biological brother of Ghanaian TikTok star Hayford Boateng, known as GH Kobby, has finally spoken following the social media influencer’s arrest in connection with the shooting and death of his girlfriend, Philipa Yaa Baby.

In a phone interview with media personality Owusu Bempah, GH Kobby’s brother shared his account of what happened, insisting that the tragic shooting was not intentional.

According to him, GH Kobby did not mean to harm Yaa Baby. He said the gun was fired to issue a warning, but things went terribly wrong.

“He didn’t mean to shoot her. It was supposed to be warning shots in the air, but it went wrong,” the brother explained.

He also disclosed that GH Kobby had consumed alcohol before the incident, which may have affected his decision-making and accuracy.

“My brother had taken in alcohol. That’s why he missed and ended up shooting Yaa Baby, who was just sitting there using her phone,” he added.

The incident happened at Seker, a community in Yeji, the capital of the Pru East District in the Bono East Region. It occurred shortly after the couple had attended the funeral of the late Mamponghene Daasebre Osei Bonsu II.

Yaa Baby was quickly rushed to St. Martin’s Hospital but unfortunately passed away from her injuries. GH Kobby, along with two others — Kojo Emmanuel and Michael Kabutey — has been arrested and is currently in police custody while investigations continue.

The case has shocked many across the country, especially on social media where fans are reacting with sorrow, anger, and calls for justice. The tragedy has also sparked debates online about gun safety, the dangers of alcohol misuse, and the need for accountability.
