Watch how Cardinal Peter Turkson’s arrival in Accra for National Prayer and Thanksgiving Day

Cardinal Peter Appiah Turkson has touched down at Kotoka International Airport ahead of the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Day, which is set to take place on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

His arrival was announced by Channel One TV on their official X (formerly Twitter) page on Monday, June 30, 2025.

“His Eminence Cardinal Peter Appiah Turkson arrives at Kotoka International Airport ahead of the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, where he will serve as Special Guest Speaker,” the post read.

Cardinal Turkson is expected to deliver the keynote address as the Special Guest Speaker during the national event. The day has been set aside to unite Ghanaians in prayer, thanksgiving, and spiritual reflection. It will also serve as a moment to ask for divine guidance and continued peace in the country.

The event holds extra significance this year as it coincides with the 65th anniversary of Ghana becoming a republic. Celebrations and prayer activities are scheduled to take place in all 16 regions and across 261 districts, bringing the nation together in unity and faith.

Chairman of the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Day Committee, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, has confirmed that all arrangements are in place for a successful observance.
