WATCH: Police MTTD to hunt motorists using tinted tail lights

The Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) in Ghana is cautioning drivers that the use of tinted taillights is illegal and will lead to arrest and prosecution.

This move is part of a broader push to enforce traffic laws and improve road safety by addressing vehicle modifications that can affect visibility.

The warning focuses on tinted tail lights, which violate the Motor Traffic Act. The law bans the use of coloured lights on vehicles, except for headlamps and signal lights.

The MTTD says tinted tail lights reduce the visibility of brake lights, which can increase the risk of accidents.

Motorists are therefore advised to make sure their vehicles meet all traffic regulations, especially regarding the proper visibility and function of tail lights. Those who fail to comply will face penalties, including arrest and prosecution.
