Watch ‘scary’ moment heavily-armed men resist Hannah Bissiw-Kotei, anti-galamsey taskforce over arrest of Chinese
Dr. Hanna Louisa Bisiw-Kotei, Administrator of the Minerals Development Fund, and her anti-galamsey taskforce came under threat at Bui Sobinso in the Ashanti Region after arresting six Chinese illegal miners.
The team was ambushed by heavily armed men demanding the release of the suspects.
A 3news.com report dated June 5, 2025, quoted Dr. Bisiw-Kotei expressing frustration and disbelief, alleging that the local police ordered the attackers to block their convoy.
“It is all confusing. The police here asked them to block us, but we are taking the illegal miners to the regional police headquarters,” she said.
Footage shared on TV3’s X page the same day showed the armed group blocking the taskforce’s path and instructing them to stay inside their vehicle.
