Wontumi’s case is murkier than you think – Ghanaians told

National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) communications team member, Beatrice Annan, has described the findings against Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, commonly known as Chairman Wontumi, as “alarming” and “scary.”

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on Monday, June 2, Beatrice Annan commended Wontumi’s lawyer, Andy Appiah Kubi, for his “wise” and “reconciliatory” approach to the case.

According to her, Appiah Kubi’s demeanor suggests he is aware of the gravity of the situation.

“The things against Chairman Wontumi are so scary that if you look at Appiah Kubi’s demeanor, you can see that he is a wise lawyer,” she said.

“He knows what EOCO knows, he knows what facts the man has been confronted with.”

The presidential staffer attributed the NPP’s reaction to fear and anxiety, suggesting that the party is worried about the potential consequences of the investigations.

“The fear and the anxiety of the NPP is that if the NDC decides to do even half of what they did to the members of the NDC, half of them will not survive,” she said.

She also criticized the NPP for being disorganized and not prioritizing the welfare of their members and leadership.

“Ultimately, this shows that the NPP is very disorganized, they are not concerned about the welfare of their members, and even their party leadership,” she added.

According to her, the investigations into Wontumi’s case are extensive, involving not just the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) but also the FBI.

“This investigation is not just carried out by EOCO, the FBI is also involved, it is also murkier than you think,” she said.
