You are political prostitutes – NPP Former MMDCEs told
Dr. Jonathan Asante Otchere, a senior political science lecturer at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), has taken a swipe at former Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over their public endorsements of various flagbearer aspirants.
According to him, the way the former MMDCEs are offering their support to multiple presidential hopefuls suggests a lack of sincerity and credibility.
Speaking in an interview with GHOne TV on June 24, 2025, Dr. Asante Otchere didn’t hold back in his assessment of their actions.
“I do not see the former MMDCEs as people with integrity and principles; they’re a bunch of political prostitutes,” he said.
His sharp criticism comes amid ongoing confusion and debate about the real stance of the former MMDCEs in the lead-up to the NPP’s presidential primaries, scheduled for January 31, 2026.
In recent weeks, various groups of these former officials have held press conferences either pledging support to certain aspirants or distancing themselves from such endorsements altogether. The conflicting messages have added to the growing perception that some of the former MMDCEs are backing every aspirant they meet, rather than standing on firm principles.
Some have even been seen publicly praising all the contenders they’ve come into contact with, further fueling concerns about their consistency and motives.
