You should be ashamed for rejecting National Cathedral and accepting National Day of Prayer – Pastors slammed
A lecturer at Kumasi Technical University (KsTU), Dr. Samuel Afriyie, has sharply criticised the National Thanksgiving prayer service held yesterday, describing the event as hypocritical.
Speaking on Wontumi Radio’s morning show, Dr. Afriyie said pastors attending the prayer service should be ashamed of themselves, especially considering their previous silence and support for the controversial National Cathedral project under former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
He accused the pastors of double standards and called on them to pray for forgiveness rather than participating in what he views as a politicised event.
Dr. Afriyie also expressed doubts about the credibility of the current government’s promises. He questioned the feasibility of the opposition National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) proposed 24-hour economy policy and the sustainability of the free Senior High School (SHS) programme, particularly under Ghana’s current economic conditions and IMF restrictions.
He further dismissed the government’s “Reset” agenda as an inadequate strategy for tackling inflation, saying it lacks practical solutions to improve the country’s economic situation.
