Young Ghanaian Fake doctor arrested for personation and fraud

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a man for impersonating a medical doctor and defrauding victims by promising them international travel opportunities.

The suspect, Fredrick Papa Kow-Assifuah, was arrested on Thursday, June 6, 2025, during an intelligence-led operation by the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) Headquarters. The arrest took place at Kasoa Crispo City in the Central Region.

According to a police statement released on Monday, June 9, Fredrick was found dressed in a white lab coat with a stethoscope around his neck at the time of his arrest. He had scheduled a meeting with another potential victim he had lured through online interactions.

A search conducted on the premises revealed several medical items in his possession, including:

2 stethoscopes

3 intravenous (IV) drips

5 syringes

2 sample bottles

1 roll of plaster

6 bottles of vaccines

1 Ghanaian passport

GH¢8,500.00 in cash

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to falsely presenting himself as a medical doctor at United Brain Hospital in Mallam, Accra. He further confessed to using this fake identity to build online relationships with women and convince them to pay for nonexistent travel arrangements to Europe.

Fredrick Papa Kow-Assifuah is currently in police custody and assisting with investigations. He will be arraigned before court soon.
