African Games: Red-hot Black Satellites beat Gambia to move on top of Group A

A fantastic Ghana side beat Gambia 3-1 on Tuesday evening to move on top of Group A in the ongoing 13th African Games Men’s Football competition.

Aziz Misibau, Abdul Aziz Issah and Jerry all scored for the Black Satellites as they cruised to victory in the very entertaining game played at the Accra Sports Stadium this evening.

After minutes of successive goal attempts, Aziz Misibau’s arrived in the box just on time to pick up the ball after the Gambian goalkeeper failed to handle the ball.

The 18-year old forward then slotted in to put Ghana ahead on the 13th minute mark.

Abdul Aziz Issah doubled Ghana’s lead minutes into the second half with a shot to beat Sanyang in post for Gambia.

Ghana could have made it three but the Gambian Goalkeeper managed to save Misibau’s 74th minute penalty kick.

Gambians however pulled one back inside the final ten minutes before substitute Jerry Afriyie scored a spectacular goal to give Ghana a resounding 3-1 win in the game.

The result takes Ghana on top of Group A with four points.

Benin and Congo are both on two points and are second and third respectively.

The Black Satellites will face Benin in their last group game on Friday, March 15,2024.

Friday’s game will be played at the Legon Sports Stadium and will kick off at 5pm, same time as the other Group A between Congo and Gambia.
