Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan, reflecting on his illustrious career, has unveiled his ultimate Black Stars eleven, featuring a blend of iconic players from different eras.
With a distinguished career spanning 19 years with the national team, Gyan’s selection showcases his deep appreciation for the talent and impact of his fellow footballers.
In goal, Gyan chose Richard Kingston, supported by a solid defensive lineup consisting of John Paintsil, Hans Adu Sarpei, John Mensah, and the legendary Samuel Osei Kuffour.
In midfield, Gyan opted for the formidable duo of Michael Essien and Stephen Appiah, providing a perfect balance of skill and leadership.
On the flanks, he selected Sulley Muntari on the left and Yaw Preko on the right, both known for their versatility and contribution to the team’s success.
Leading the attacking line, Gyan included the iconic Abedi Pele, renowned for his creative flair and goal-scoring prowess, alongside himself, acknowledging his own impactful role in Ghanaian football history.
“Richard Kingston, John Paintsil, Hans Adu Sarpei, John Mensah, and Sammy Kuffour. In the middle, Michael Essien, and Stephen Appiah. I will play Sulley Muntari on the left and on the right, I will take Yaw Preko and upfront it will be ‘Maestro’ Abedi Pele and myself,” he told Angel TV.
Gyan emphasized that this selection represents his personal choice for the best Black Stars lineup of all time, acknowledging the exclusion of other legendary figures such as Laryea Kingston and Anthony Yeboah.
“Let it be clear this is my eleven. My all-time eleven,” he added.
