Bawumia should be 90% responsible for the economic mess in the country – Builsa South MP

The Member of Parliament for Builsa South has reacted to the latest report released by Global Info Analytics, which revealed that 60 percent of Ghanaians blame Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the economic crisis in the country.

Dr. Clement Apaak is of the view that the percentage of Ghanaians who held that view should have been higher considering what he believes Dr. Bawumia contributed to the current mess.

The latest survey data from Global Info Analytics has revealed that 60% of voters hold Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia partly responsible for the current economic crisis in the country.

The data from the research group said respondents believe that Dr. Bawumia, as the leader of the Economic Management Team, has not taken sufficient steps to alleviate the hardships faced by Ghanaians.

Although 34% of Ghanaians argue that Dr. Bawumia, in his capacity as Vice President, cannot shoulder the entire blame, as the ultimate responsibility lies with the President, Dr. Apaak says otherwise.

He argued that Dr. Bawumia, while the NPP was in opposition, held several lectures outlining how the party was going to initiate steps to address the economic challenges they were facing in Ghana at the time.

He said the Vice President was touted as the economic Messiah who was going to support the President in managing the economy better.

The MP stated that the party told Ghanaians that Dr. Bawumia would be in charge of the economy since that was his strength.

However, based on what has happened under this administration, Dr. Apaak insists that Dr. Bawumia ought to take 90 percent of the of the blame for how our economy has performed under the NPP.

Dr. Bawumia has been a key figure in the government’s economic management and should not be excused from the mess, he said.

He wrote in a tweet on X formerly Twitter saying “I’m disappointed that only 60% of voters believe that DMB is partly to blame for the economic crisis. DMB delivered the economic lectures in opposition and has been front and centre in the management of the economy in gov’t. He must not be excused. He is the head of the economic management team and should be 90% responsible”.
