A 65-year-old man, Igwe Ambrose was given a double life sentence by the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Monday.
The court found Ambrose, a landlord guilty of caressing the breasts and sticking his fingers into the private parts of his tenant’s children,7 and 11 years old respectively while ostensibly offering to assist them with their schoolwork.
He committed the indecent act on the minors at Shagari Estate in Ipaja, Lagos, between January and June of 2021.
Police investigated the case after the children reported Ambrose’s misconduct to their parents.
Justice Abiola Soladoye ruled on Monday that the prosecution had proven Ambrose’s four counts of sexual assault by penetration and indecent treatment of a child beyond a reasonable doubt.
The judge therefore sentenced Auger Ambrose to double life jail terms as his conduct clearly violated Sections 135 and 261 of the Lagos State 2015 Criminal Laws.
