GFA Women’s Football Strategy – All Women’s Clubs to be beneficiaries of fully funded License D Course
The Ghana Football Association has decided that all the Regional Women’s clubs across the country will be the beneficiaries of the recently announced fully funded Licence D Coaching Course.
The GFA has requested the Women’s Division One League clubs and the Regional Women’s Division Two League clubs to present a candidate for the upcoming CAF License D Coaching Courses to be held at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence.
In all, over One Hundred and Thirty Women from the Ten Regional Women’s DOL and Division Two Leagues will enrol into the fully funded programme.
This initiative is under the education pillar of the GFA Women’s Football Strategy, which states that the GFA will train more women coaches to accelerate the growth of the women’s game in the country.
Last season, 70 women were fully funded by the GFA to undertake the License Courses by the Association.
In that exercise, the opportunity was given to the 20 Women’s Premier League clubs. 40 of the Women under Licence D Coaching Courses whilst the GFA also partnered CAF to train 30 Women for their Licence C Coaching Courses.
Currently, every Women’s Premier League club has at least one qualified woman coach whose training was funded by the GFA.
This year’s programme, once completed, will ensure that every Women’s football club in the country will have at least one trained Women’s coach as the GFA continues to fulfil the objectives of the GFA Women’s Football Strategy.
With the increasing number of women showing interest in the course and in alignment with the Women’s Football Strategy, the Ghana FA is ready to see more women trained in the field.
This year’s programme will bring the numbers of women fully funded to undertake licence courses by the GFA to Two Hundred (200).
The Licence D Coaching Course will include the fundamentals of coaching, alongside specifics such as the concept of grassroots football. Understanding a coach’s role as an educator will also be highlighted as another core feature of the course. The participants will have a lot of on-field and theory activities.
There will also be health-based qualifications such as proper First Aid and cardiovascular resuscitation training.
