Nations FC beat Dreams FC to move second in the Premier League

Nations FC FC closed the gap to FC Samartex at the top of the Premier League to just two points with a narrow victory over Dreams FC, as they beat the Still Believe lads 1-0 at home to secure all the three points.

A first half effort from Nuamah Blankson in the 44th minute was enough to see off the visitors at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex at Abrankese. Nations FC went into the game looking to continue their winning run after overcoming Berekum Chelsea 3-0 on Sunday.

Coach Kasim Mingle’s team have been impressive in recent weeks after picking three wins, one draw and one loss in their last Premier League games, while, Dreams FC had to work their sox off for their first win in three games following back to back draws against Accra Hearts of Oak and FC Samartex 1996.

After a ferocious start to the game by both sides, Nuamah Blankson shot Nations FC into the lead in 45th minute – few seconds before the half time whistle.

Back from the break, Dreams FC made three substitutions by bringing on Sylvester Simba, Jonathan Nemoden and Ebenezer Adade for Derrick Atta Agyei, Yaovi Chris and Abdulai Jalilu in the 55th minute. The substitutions stabilized things for Dreams FC but the hosts were equal to the task with an improved defensive work.

Kelvin Ampoful and Mohammed Abubakar had a bite of the cherry in the closing stages of the game as Nations FC mapped out a strategy to protect their lead. The visitors piled the pressure looking to cancel the lead but the hosts held on to win the tie.
