GNAT deducts double dues from teachers Salary: Check Facts on February 2024 Payslip

The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has deducted double dues from teachers’ salaries as shown on their February 2024 E-payslips.

A confidential E-payslip available to CoverGhana shows that the Association has made a double deduction of dues from its members’ salaries.

This was noticed by teachers when the February 2024 E-payslip was made available by the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD).

According to the February 2024 E-payslip, the Association deducted GH¢58.44 as dues for February 2024 and made another deduction of GH¢53.57 as dues for January 2024. The January 2024 error deduction of dues appeared on the February 2024 E-payslip as intercepted by CoverGhana.

According to the Association, there was a technical challenge at the Controller and Accountant General’s Department in January, as a result the dues deduction was reduced to GH¢4.87 instead of GH¢58.44.

With this, the association corrected the anomaly and made a deduction of GH¢53.57 as dues for January 2024 in February 2024.

Meanwhile, some teachers disclosed that, the full amount of dues was deducted from their salary in January 2024 and were deducted again in February 2024.

In addition, the Association also made a compulsory deduction of GH¢100.00 (an increment of the base deduction by GH¢50) for Teachers Mutual Fund dues without any authorization from some members.

Some teachers also complained of a new TM1 laptop deduction on their February 2024 E-payslip, an amount of money they have already paid for a laptop they have not received from GES.
