Two pilots suspended after exchanging blows in cockpit

Two Air-France pilots have been suspended after reportedly exchanging blows while flying a plane.

According to Swiss news outlet La Tribune, the pilot and the co-pilot got into a physical altercation in the cockpit as they flew an Airbus A320 from Geneva to Paris in June.

Members of the cabin crew intervened after hearing the commotion as one crew member was forced to stay in the cockpit until the flight landed safely.

Air-France further confirmed that the incident did not affect the flight.

The suspension mirrors one where Ethiopian Airlines, last week, suspended the crew of a flight on which both of its pilots reportedly fell asleep and missed their landing window in Addis Ababa.

The plane eventually landed safely, but experts said the incident raised questions about pilot fatigue on the airline, the largest air carrier in Africa.

Ethiopian Airlines said that the crew had been

“removed from operation pending further investigation. Appropriate corrective action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation. Safety has always been and will continue to be our first priority.”
