Anti-LGBTQ+ Bill: Ghanaians miss Late Professor Atta Mills

Ghanaians have showered praise on the late, Professor Evans Atta Mills for being the best president Ghana ever had.

Some disclosed that the late President was bold enough to take a stand against the LGBTQ community.

Professor Atta Mills rejected the loans from the IMF that had strings attached to them.

In 2011, the late Professor John Evans Atta Mills rejected the UK’s threat to cut aid if he refused to legalize LGBTQ.

Prof Atta Mills explained that the UK could not impose its values on Ghana and he would never legalize homosexuality.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron said at the weekend that aid would be cut to countries that failed to respect gay rights.

The late Professor Mills told Mr. Cameron that he was entitled to his views, but he did not have the right to “direct to other sovereign nations as to what they should do”.

He made it clear Ghana’s “societal norms” were different from those in the UK.

“I, as president, will never initiate or support any attempt to legalize homosexuality in Ghana,” Mr. Atta Mills said.

But it seems President Nana Addo has other plans, as he has failed to sign the anti-gay bill by parliament.
