“Exploited his flank” – Chelsea player gets poor review on international break

One Chelsea player has earned a poor review after his performance on international break last night.

Many Chelsea players are in action this weekend for their respective countries, and some of them will be looking to fight to earn a place in the Euros in the summer.

And Sky Sports say that the left back spot for Gareth Southgate’s England is up for grabs now after a lame performance from Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell.

They went through the ratings of each individual player and have handed Chilwell a miserable 5 rating, which is very poor.

Sky’s Sam Blitz said: “Chilwell was wasteful going forward, ballooning crosses and shots over the bar when found in good areas. And Brazil exploited his flank several times on the counter-attack. Correctly taken off for Gomez, who deserved a chance. If Luke Shaw doesn’t make the Euros after injury, this could be a problem position for Southgate.”

I watched the game myself and Chilwell was awful to be honest, he just didn’t look on it at all and was easily bypassed and did nothing at all to effect the attack or the game entirely really.

It will certainly be one he will want to forget in a hurry but really, his form has not even been great for Chelsea this season either.
